  • 1 cup milk
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • ⅓ cup potato flakes
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for glaze)
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 2 tsp orange zest
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast mixture by dissolving yeast and sugar in warm water; set aside until frothy.
  2. Scald milk, then mix in salt, sugar, and butter until dissolved; let cool.
  3. Combine potato flakes with hot water; mix until smooth.
  4. In a stand mixer, combine egg, yeast mixture, milk mixture, and potato mixture. Gradually add flour until a sticky dough forms.

  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread with softened butter, sprinkle on filling, roll tightly, and cut into twelve pieces.
  8. Let rolls rise again for about 30–60 minutes on a greased baking sheet.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. For the glaze, beat cream cheese with powdered sugar, zest, and orange juice until smooth; drizzle over warm rolls.
