- 2 packets active dry yeast (1/2 oz or 14 g) + 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
- 1 large egg
- 4 cloves garlic (finely minced) for topping
- 1/2 cup salted butter (melted) for topping
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley for topping
- 1/3 cup shredded Parmesan cheese for topping
Instructions
- Prepare the yeast mixture by dissolving yeast and sugar in warm water. Heat milk with remaining sugar, salt, and butter until lukewarm.
- Combine the yeast mixture and milk mixture in a bowl. Add flour and an egg; stir well and let rest for 15 minutes. Knead the dough using a stand mixer for about 5 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (176°C). On a floured surface, roll out dough into 24 balls and shape each into knots. Let rise for another 25 minutes.
- Mix topping ingredients (except Parmesan) and brush over the rolls before sprinkling with cheese.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown; brush with remaining butter mixture before serving warm.
