  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 packet unflavored gelatin
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract (optional)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Zest and juice the oranges; set aside both for later use.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine orange juice, water, sugar, and corn syrup. Heat over medium until dissolved, then bring to a simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Bloom the gelatin in a bowl with cold water for 5 minutes, then stir it into the simmering syrup until fully dissolved.
  4. Add butter and zest to the syrup; cook for an additional 5 minutes while stirring continuously.
  5. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature for about 1-2 hours.
  6. Pour into a greased dish or molds and let set at room temperature for another hour before refrigerating for at least 4-6 hours.
  7. Once firm, cut into bite-sized pieces and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
