- 1 pound sweet Italian sausage
- ¾ pound lean ground beef
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 16 ounces ricotta cheese
- ¾ pound mozzarella cheese

Instructions
- In a Dutch oven, cook the sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic until browned. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, sugar, parsley, basil, salt, Italian seasoning, fennel seeds, and black pepper. Simmer for 1.5 hours.
- Boil lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and rinse with cold water.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with egg and remaining parsley.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella slices, and Parmesan cheese in succession. Finish with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; uncover and bake for an additional 25 minutes until golden bubbly.
