Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 large yellow onion (diced)
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth (or chicken broth)
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 8 oz small pasta shells
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large sauté pan over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  2. Lower heat to medium and add diced onions; cook until soft (about 5 minutes). Stir in minced garlic for the last 30 seconds.
  3. Sprinkle flour into the pan and stir for about one minute, then gradually add beef broth while bringing to a boil.
  4. Add tomato sauce, pasta, Italian seasoning, seasoned salt, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Stir well, cover, and let simmer for 12-15 minutes until pasta is tender.
  5. Stir in heavy cream and shredded cheddar until melted; return the beef to reheat for an additional few minutes before serving.
