Ingredients
- 3 lbs boneless pork shoulder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing rice wine
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tsp molasses
- 1 tsp salt
- Five spice powder
- 2 tbsp honey
- Cilantro leaves (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cut the pork shoulder into two long strips.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the marinade ingredients until smooth.
- Rub the marinade over the pork and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat oven to 500°F. Place pork on a metal rack over a baking sheet lined with foil.
- Roast uncovered for 25 minutes, then turn and roast an additional 10 minutes.
- Baste the pork every 10 minutes until cooked through and caramelized (about 60 minutes total).
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
